During my four years in my school's Forensics team, as both a member of the directive and a competitor, I acquired various skills and perspectives I will forever treasure. For instance, I learned how to take hits, and lots of them. Things are not always going to result the way you wish them to. Because of this, I also learned how to accept criticism, both positive and negative. As a theatre major in college, I can rest assured that this is a skill I will use on a daily basis for the rest of my life. However, the skill I acquired that will propel me forward even more in life is that of being a member of a community. Forensics is all about family. Between piece blocking and constant rehearsal, we learned how to nourish each other and help our peers be their very best. During competitions, we learned how to be selfless. Whether you went far or not, it was always important to be grounded and to focus on teamwork. If one became selfish and did not contribute to the team's morale and energy, everyone else would feel out of balance. Now, I am confident in my ability to be productive within any group I become a part of. Therefore, I know in my heart that I do not regret any second of my Forensics career.

I’ve always wanted to join the school’s Forensics team ever since I entered Commonwealth. I finally decided to join my junior year of high school because I wanted to face my fear of public speaking. My team is like a family and the unwavering support everyone gives me makes Forensics an incredible learning experience. I proved to myself that I can speak and act in front of people, a skill that I didn’t know I had until I joined Forensics.
